Trip to China Update
Our Group is Excited! In three months we journey to China for our shopping and sighseeing tour. In Beijing, we plan to visit our favorite silk, pearl and furniture markets. Also we look forward to a Chinese opera performance and the majesty of Great Wall and the expanse of the Forbidden City. Xian is the eastern point of the ancient Silk Road. Here our focus will be visiting the burial site of the First Qin Emperor and his buried army, with over 8,000 larger-than-life terra cotta figures of warriors and horses. Shanghai offers us both the past of China but most of all, Shanghai gives us a bold look at the new ultra-modern China. Lots of shopping here. A more historic look will be our day visits to the canal villages of Zhujiajiao and Zhouzhuang.
Preparation for our Journey: The average high temperature will be in the upper 70’s with the average lows in the mid 50’s. Pack Lightly–no one in China will notice or care than you have worn the same pair of jeans 4 days in a row. China has everything you may need in terms of supplies-shampoo, toilet paper, toothpaste and most over-the-counter medicines. Bring your own prescription medicine however. Based on our experinces, the hotels where we will stay will have western style electrical outlets and voltage-so your hairdryer should work. Our hotels will offer you western foods and the opportunity to sample authentic Chinese dishes. Work with John at Carlson-Wagonlitt Travel at 1-800-999-7891.
